About ECC

ECC exists to glorify God by extensively sharing the Gospel, making disciples of Jesus Christ and planting multiplying churches among the nations.

Every Community for Christ (ECC) is the worldwide evangelistic church planting ministry of OMS International. ECC is an integral part of OMS’ International Ministries Department (IMD).

OMS International is committed to both intensive and extensive evangelism. We believe that for evangelism to be most effective, it should lead to the planting of healthy churches that grow and multiply. OMS believes that church planting should be done on a continuing basis. The operations of ECC are set up to assure that these concepts are carried out.

From the earliest days of the Great Village Campaign in Japan (1911-1917), the Every Creature Crusade (now Every Community for Christ) has worked to give every man, woman and child an opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus and respond in faith. This vision of extensive evangelism, resulting in the multiplication of churches that saturate the areas where we work, is still at the heart of ECC today.

ECC is a team ministry comprised of local followers of Christ: Filipinos in the Philippines, Colombians in Colombia and Indians in India. In the past, ECC teams went to a location with the goal of planting a single strong church. Now, ECC teams function as Church Multiplication Teams (CMTs), whose members model the concept with effective evangelism and discipleship. New believers are quickly equipped to make disciples of Jesus by opening their homes and their network of relationships to share the Good News. The next step is to form worshiping groups that will soon become fully functioning churches, seeking to obey all that Jesus commanded.

New churches need effective leaders who can train others to evangelize, make disciples, pray, lead worship and serve the community. ECC is committed to preparing local leaders in their local ministry setting to multiply both disciples of Jesus and local congregations.

Every Community for Christ is committed to accountability. ECC shepherds hold country coordinators accountable in their personal lives and ministry. Each team submits monthly reports to keep track of their progress in key areas, such as evangelism, discipleship training, leadership training and the establishment of new worshiping groups and churches.

In 2007, by God’s grace, 459 ECC teams serving in 43 countries on 5 continents helped 161,620 people repent of their sins and invite Christ to be their Lord and Savior. There were 6,039 people trained to lead local worshiping groups and churches, 28,551 people followed Christ in baptism, and 1,385 new churches were established. God is at work through ECC today as an integral part to further the four-fold purpose of OMS.
