A Testimony of God's Work in Asia

Before the 2004 tsunami devastated much of Southeast Asia, the Evangelical Church of India (ECI), which grew out of OMS ministry, struggled to evangelize fishing villages. God used the tsunami to “wash away” their resistance to hearing the Good News. In a very short time, seven OMS Every Community for Christ (ECC) teams planted 40 churches, many using efforts similar to Nurmala’s, an Indian believer who used humanitarian aid to show many widows and orphans Christ’s love. Through her compassion, she demonstrated the love of Jesus, and soon, many people came to know the Lord.

Today, this village church in India has grown to 50 members, many of whom know the Lord because they saw the light of Jesus in Nurmala. The ECC/ECI partnership has planted more than 36 other churches in similar fashion in tsunami-affected areas.

Due to security concerns, detailed information about certain ministries and missionaries in this area is not available on our website.
