Donor Testimony
In 1945, God called Dr. Stanley Tam, a Christian businessman, to be a soul winner. The Holy Spirit gave him Psalm 2:8, “Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” In 1955, Stanley Tam gave his first company to the Lord and has used the profits to impact world evangelism ever since.
In 1952, Dr. Tam traveled around the world. While in Japan, he visited with one of the seven OMS Every Community for Christ teams. The teams were going door-to-door with the Gospel of John, leading people to Christ. Residents of each home were invited to an evening tent meeting where Dr. Tam saw team members leading more people to Jesus. Dr. Tam was invited to eat and sleep with the team members, an experience he has never forgotten.
When OMS cut back the ECC program due to lack of funds in 1968, Dr. Tam went to the President of OMS, Dr. Ed Erny, and said, “If I could trust God for $50,000 per year, will you enlarge the ECC program again?”
Dr. Erny said, “Yes.”
Soon thereafter, Stanley and his wife, Juanita (pictured), formed the STANITA Foundation, which owns the businesses that Stanley Tam started, including States Smelting and Refining Corporation, Tamco Industries and United States Plastic Corporation. Since the foundation started, the profits of those corporations have been used for evangelism through ECC. ECC continues to be the beneficiary of profits from the businesses Dr. Tam started, and US Plastic continues to give generously to impact a lost world.
Every Community for Christ thanks the Lord for the vision, the obedience and the passion of Dr. Stanley Tam and his family. Without his obedience, ECC would not be ministering in over 45 countries today with over 269,000 people accepting Christ as a result of ECC ministries in 2008. Dr. Tam's obedience when God called is an example of how the talents and gifts given to an individual by the Lord can be used to bring many to salvation in Jesus Christ.
